One of my fondest memories of childhood is playing with the
nesting dolls that my Dad bought back from Russia many many
years ago. Some of them were so pretty and delicate that my
Mom would take care that I play with them ever so gently.
So, when I chance upon these doll charms, I knew that I had
to make them into necklaces. Of course, my interest is
further fueled by my interesting Russian lessons! My Russian
teacher Elena is a great teacher and I would like to wish

I resisted reading Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows
until last week when I finished it overnight on Saturday and
Sunday. I used to rush out to buy the book on the first day
of launch but since this is the last book in the series, I
decided to postpone the enjoyment for a while. Do you ever
feel like this when something pleasant or enjoyable is
coming to an end?
Anyway, Harry Potter is the reason why there were no new
accessories update last weekend ;p

I read The Economist for the business news and it turns out
that the Science and Technology section, especially the
psychology articles, are quite interesting as well, if not
more so.
According to Dr Geoffrey Miller's theory, the human brain is
like the peacock's tail; it is an organ designed to attract
the opposite sex. Both men and women thus show off with
different criteria for making their choices. Through sexual
selection, an individual shows he/she has resources to burn,
be it time or money to make costly signals to the opposite
gender that one is fit and desirable.
Through research and experiments, the research team found
that men display their prowess via conspicuous consumption
e.g. fast cars while women do it via charitable acts
e.g. altruism towards strangers. Accordingly, "these studies
support the idea, familiar from everyday life, that what
women want in a partner is material support while men
require self-sacrifice."

A brief about an interesting article in The Economist:
Internet access in North Korea is greatly limited to a
limited number of people. Instead, what people are able to
access is a nationwide intranet known as the Kwangmong
("bright") which has a browser, an email-programme and a
search engine. The Korean Computer Centre taps the internet
to feed Kwangmyong, "a clever way to disseminate
technical information to research institutes, factories and
schools without losing control." An interesting point is
that internet dating is starting to take off in North Korea
too!

According to the latest issue of The Economist, "natural"
and "functional" are the latest buzzwords in the food and
soft-drinks industry. Proof of this: Coca-Cola and Nestle
are launching Enviga, a concoction of "natural" green-tea
extracts, caffeine and " plant micronutrients" in America
next month. According to the manufacturers, "Enviga
increases calorie burning" although studies have not been
made public.
Enviga can burn 60 - 100 calories over 24 hours. That said,
one would need to consume about 20 cans of Enviga to burn
the 560 calories in a Big Mac! The old-fashioned method of
losing weight by exercising is probably a better bet. :P

Studies have shown that people of both sexes have the
tendency to think that the sexual competition they face is
stronger than it really is. The researcher attributes it to
evolution as this inclination makes people try harder to
attract or keep a mate. So if you ever find yourself sitting
alone in a pub, depressed by how attractive other girls look
to you, take comfort, cause it may just be a trick that
nature is playing on you. :D

For the largest time, I wanted a big hair-do, so finally I
did my hair a few weeks ago. It's a big drama perm and I
love it!
So I'm pleased
to put up the Big Hair-Do handbag today. Her hair is blonde
while mine is all black. Although my hairdresser has been
advising me to color it, I love the jet-black hair-do too.

I have always loved the story of Alice in Wonderland. It
must have begun when my Dad gave me The Complete Illustrated
Works of Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland and Through the
Looking Glass) years ago. Since then, I have read it many
times and also read the annotated Alice which provides
interesting background to the stories and verses. It's a
most whimsical story filled with quirky characters! I love
collecting Alice items, especially jewelry, too!
This story has so inspired me that I made and sold a
Wonderland bag last year. I'm happy now also to craft and
present the Quirky Rabbit necklace and a Les Nereides Alice
charm bracelet.

I read this interesting article in the latest issue of "The
Economist" that early life experience actually moulds the
way our genes work i.e. epigenetic imprinting. Scientists
found that rat pups whose mothers spent a lot time licking
and grooming them grew to be less fearful and better
adjusted than offspring of neglectful mothers. Somehow early
life experiences affected hormone production which affected
stress behaviour.
For ages, people have argued if behaviour are nurtured or
natured. Perhaps the answer is somewhere in between.

I'm half way through "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind",
a book by Joseph Murphy. I think it's a good book that
deserves to be read a few times. One of my favourite lines
in the book says: "What you decree and feel as true will
come to pass. Decree harmony, health, peace and abundance."

My latest craze is Anpanman, a Japanese character, made from
"living bread"! So far, my friends have indulged me by
giving me a squeaky Anpanman toy, booksmarks, passport
holder and a whole set of Anpanman and friends figurines. My
fave is the squeaky toy which I bring out with me every
weekend. :P

My bf just came back from Copenhagen and Helsinki. Among the
gifts he gave me, my fave is a magnet! (huh, you might say!)
I don't usually collect magnets but this one is so pretty!
The magnet is a little red-head girl wearing a pink frock,
pink necklace, pink shoes and a tiara on her head. There
are little butterflies in various shades of pink fluttering
around her! This is so girlish-pretty that my heart went
a-flutter upon seeing it! :D
It is thus befitting that I'm adding girlish-pretty
Born Again jewelry today! From cherries, hearts, rainbows,
butterflies, zebras, there is so much whimsical fun!
I have also added a few new totes in the bag section!

Hiyee! I'm back from a business trip from Shanghai! I love
the city! So vibrant and so full of life! The clubbing scene
is fantastic! Beautiful people everywhere! Went to a few
clubs along the Bund as well as other places! Totally cool
although we find the tap beers quite diluted. It's
definitely better to order them in bottles.

I'm going to shed 8kg and demand to be on the cover of FHM!
So the people at FHM, watch out! Hahhhaa finally decided to
do something about the waist line! (lest you think I'm
advocating drastic dieting, I'm not. I go for a yoga session
once a week and jog 5km twice a week! Have to cut down on
the buffets though ;p)

I went for a pedicure for the first time yesterday (sort of
late, yeah :P) and think I'm already addicted to it. I like
manicures, it's just that making jewelry and manicures can't
go together with all the bending and twisting of the wires
using my hands. But I'm really glad to hear that you girls
loved the Fleur necklaces you bought! It makes it all
worthwhile even if I can't have pretty fingernails! :D

It's by a strange coincidence that 2 persons commented
that I'm unorthodox within the last 2 weeks. One of them is
a respected friend while the other is an esteemed Egyptian
professor who has written numerous books on psychology. It's
strange to me cause I have never thought of myself in this
way. I hope they meant it in a good way...haha :D

I bought 5 pairs of shoes to wear on my latest trip early June and
this is my favourite pair! They have cherries all over them!
While I can't bear to wear the cherry shoes on a rainy day,
I can always count on the new raspberry necklaces and earrings
that have been added to our Berries are Forever collection
to brighten up my day!

course, I took the opportunity to extend my stay and bought
lots of goodies! Walked the whole day, skipping lunch just
to buy all these cute stuff. When I see all these lovely
charms and beads, food is like the last thing on my mind. :)

Limited edition original Strawberry Shortcake clutches for
your handbag collection! I hand-picked these fabrics while in
New York last Dec (remember that the online shop was closed
for a whole month end last year? That's where I went!). Had
a lot of fun there.....Bought a lot of gorgeous jewelry parts
to made into new Born Again items! Barely touched 10% of
those goodies.. :D

A gothic beauty bat necklace from Classic Hardware added!

On the right is an oil painting that I bought last week!
It's by Tresna Suryawan, an Indonesian painter. I love the
colors of the headgear, although it looks like rainbow
colored hair to me! My bf says this is the sort of thing
that I would like, very girlish quirky painting that it is
